CIEEM Fellows letter to Prime Minister on COP15 (5 Sep 2022) and Government response (10 Oct 2022)

Over 50 CIEEM Fellows, experts in their fields, have written to the new UK Prime Minister, Liz Truss, to urge her to attend the forthcoming COP15 event at the end of the year which will agree a new post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework.

The letter outlines the importance and urgency of the biodiversity crisis, its implications for the current economic and cost-of-living crisis, and how it must be addressed in tandem with the climate emergency.

The letter details actions that the UK Government can take to show leadership at COP15 and set us on the road to halting and then reversing the decline in biodiversity.

A response to the letter was received from Lord Benyon, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Minister for International Environment).
