This Natural England guidance provides standing advice for local planning authorities to assess the impacts of development on hazel dormice. It provides guidance on survey, mitigation and monitoring.
It also contains some information (e.g. on doubling/halving numbers of tubes for surveys, using boxes as well as tubes, and mitigation principles) that do not appear in the Dormouse Conservation Handbook.
This document is part of our Good Practice Guidance for dormice, produced by David Wells.
