There is an increasing awareness of the challenges that we face in biodiversity conservation and more and more tools and approaches are becoming available to us in our work as ecologists; Green infrastructure planning, biodiversity net gain, Rewilding, ecosystem services assessment, restoration, EIP partnerships, nature recovery networks. This conference will explore these approaches, looking at the big concepts and how we can use them in a practical setting to achieve the best outcomes for biodiversity enhancement. We will showcase sector-specific examples of how these principles are applied across a range of landscapes. We will also explore how these fit into the planning system and current legal and policy requirements. Delegates will get a bigger picture of biodiversity conservation in Ireland, and start to think where different approaches are appropriate and how to get the best results in their work.
The need for joined up thinking is now!
