ECOSA are pleased to be seeking an Ecologist to join us at our head office in rural Hampshire.

With the support of our large team of ecologists, you will use your expertise to provide sound advice and deliver a wide range of survey and mitigation solutions across a diverse and portfolio of projects to ensure our clients’ development and conservation goals are successful in respect of ecology.

As a CIEEM Registered Practice, we are committed to ensuring best practice and the positive promotion of the profession.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant subject;
  • Minimum of two years post-qualification experience in an ecologically focussed role, preferably in ecological consultancy;
  • Experience in undertaking protected species and habitat surveys;
  • Project management skills, particularly in relation to small to medium scale developments;
  • Experience of technical report writing, ideally including PEAs, EcIAs and BNG reports.
  • Hold or working towards Natural England / Natural Resources Wales protected species class licences;
  • Knowledge of relevant UK and European legislation, policy and guidance;
  • Be a team player with good verbal and written communications skills;
  • Sound MS Outlook, Word and Excel skills;
  • A full driving licence; and
  • Legal entitlement to work in the UK.

Desirable Skills

  • CIEEM membership (or working towards this);
  • Experience of using QGIS;
  • A particular interest in one or more species / species groups e.g. bats, hazel dormouse, reptiles, botany etc.
