CIEEM Volunteer Elections: Governing Board & Advisory Forum

We are seeking nominations for both our Governing Board and Advisory Forum, with the deadline for final nominations being Wednesday 18th October. These roles are crucial to the functioning of the Institute and are a brilliant way to contribute your knowledge and experience gained to benefit the sector as a whole. If you’ve felt recently like you want to up your game, make a lasting mark on the world of Ecology & Environmental Management and push the sector through a critical time when it most needs your support, then these roles could be for you!

Our Governing Board Roles

At CIEEM, we are incredibly fortunate to be led by a Governing Board of dedicated volunteers, elected by the members and chaired by the President. Our Governing Board includes our four Vice Presidents, Honorary Treasurer and Honorary Company Secretary, together with five elected members. The Governing Board provides strategic leadership and direction whilst also ensuring good governance and effective control. Please note that only Full or Fellow Members are eligible for nominations to the Governing Board.

We have one role for an Ordinary Member of the Governing Board (that is due for re-election), and there are two Officer roles that are open for Vice-president elects (Ireland and Wales).  For a role description of an ordinary member of the Governing Board please read this. The Vice President must be resident in country/region they will represent and will be voted for by the specific Geographic Member Networks.

Our Advisory Forum Roles

Our Advisory Forum meets biannually and is made up of elected members and representatives of our committees and Member Networks. Their role is to provide advice to the Governing Board on internal matters affecting our members, new projects and initiatives. If you have experience and expertise build up from time spent within our sector (or indeed elsewhere), then we could really use your help to keep our CIEEM ship steady and sailing in the right direction.

We have five Ordinary Member positions available on the Advisory Forum (including three open for re-election). The Advisory Forum is a good introduction to the Governance of your institute, and membership of the forum is open to all members with a Professional grade of membership.
