Strict New Controls for Plant and Tree Pests

New national measures have come into effect to safeguard the UK against a range of plant health diseases and pests.

New restrictions on imports have been brought in for Coffea and Polygala myrtifolia species, along with several other host species, to reduce the risk of Xylella fastidiosa disease.

Similarly, new measures have been implemented applying stronger import controls to countries within 100km of confirmed outbreak areas of the emerald ash borer beetle.

There are now also more stringent ‘Protected Zone’ requirements for the UK including measures for plane trees and Elms Yellows.
