Professional Bodies Write to Prime Minister Candidates on Net Zero
CIEEM and 13 other professional bodies (all members of the Professional Bodies Climate Action Charter) have written to all of the Conservative Party candidates currently running to be the next Prime Minister of the UK.
The letter calls for the new Prime Minister to maintain the UK’s commitment to delivering its net zero greenhouse gas emissions and climate adaptation targets.
The ongoing cost of living crisis and current heat wave have highlighted the acute risks if the UK Government does not proactively deliver a strategic approach to net zero. If the Climate Change Act and the Conservative Party’s manifesto commitments are not delivered, future crises will surely follow.
