Level 4 Ecology Apprenticeship Plans Approved

We are excited to share some fantastic news with our community. The Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) has agreed to support the development of a full occupation proposal for a Level 4 ecology apprenticeship. This endorsement marks the first step in creating a below-full-degree level apprenticeship in England. Additionally, we are assessing the conditions for similar apprenticeships in other nations across the UK and Ireland.

This development highlights our commitment to creating robust and recognised career paths within the environmental sector. By establishing this occupation, we aim to provide clear and accessible entry points for aspiring ecologists, ensuring the continued growth and sustainability of our workforce.

We are immensely grateful for the substantial support we have received from employers and educational institutions for the work carried out so far. Their contributions have been invaluable in reaching this stage.

Sally Hayns, our CEO, emphasised:

This is an important step in creating more diverse and accessible routes into the sector in England and we are hoping to create similar opportunities elsewhere across the UK and Ireland. We will be seeking representatives from public, private and eNGO employers to join the Trailblazer group and to help create an apprenticeship standard that provides entry into roles right across the sector.

We look forward to working closely with the trailblazer group and IfATE to develop and implement this proposal successfully and further details of how to get involved will follow.
