Chancellor Announces Additional £30 Million for Biodiversity
In today’s announcement of the 2019 Spending Review, Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sajid Javid MP, announced an additional £30 million will be granted for action to protect biodiversity.
This money will be used to further expand the blue belt of Marine Protected Areas. This is alongside £432 million for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) to create “world leading environmental standards” once Britain has left the European Union, and £30 million to tackle air quality.
