CIEEM welcomes new Patron: Judy Ling Wong

CIEEM is pleased to welcome Judy Ling Wong as our newest Patron.

Judy Ling Wong CBE – painter, poet and environmentalist – is best known as the Honorary President of the Black Environment Network (BEN), with an international reputation as the pioneer in the field of ethnic participation in the built and natural environment. She is a major voice on policy towards social inclusion. She pioneered an integrative approach to environmental participation, bringing together social, cultural, environmental and economic concerns. At this stage of her life, she continues to contribute to key environmental agendas, but in recent years, is giving time to return to her arts.

On becoming a CIEEM Patron, Judy said:

I am delighted to be appointed a CIEEM Patron. The death of George Floyd has sent a wave of emotion through the world, giving impetus to addressing issues of diversity, equality and inclusion at a time when building local and global interconnectedness is fundamental to solutions to the protection of nature and people, especially in relation to the climate emergency.  White people make up only 11% of the world population. I look forward to playing a role in supporting the aspiration of CIEEM to make its particular contribution to this important journey.
