Welsh Government Appoints Environmental Protection Assessor
The Welsh Government has recently appointed (Cymraeg) a new interim environmental protection assessor for Wales while permanent environmental governance arrangements are put into place.
Dr Nerys Llewelyn Jones has been appointed in the role for two years to consider issues raised by the public on the functioning of environmental law in Wales, and provide the Minister with advice and recommendations. This will allow a period of transition from the interim arrangements to a full oversight body.
Dr Llewelyn Jones serves as a managing partner of her own rural law practice, Agri Advisor. She is also a Landowner Panel Member of the Agricultural Land Tribunal for Wales and Vice Chair of the Agricultural Law Association.
