Briefing Paper: Solutions for the Planning and Infrastructure Bill (15 July 2025)

This briefing follows on from a workshop we held with senior CIEEM members in late June, looking specifically at solutions to issues with the planning system in England that the Planning and Infrastructure Bill was trying to address.

The workshop came up with four areas where action could be taken:

  1. Restricting the Scope of Part 3 of the Planning and Infrastructure Bill
  2. Improving the Current Planning System
  3. Reforming and Strengthening the Habitats Regulations
  4. Supporting Strategic Mitigation and Nature Recovery
