Wild Justice threatens Government with legal action over Planning Bill

Wild Justice has written to the UK government demanding it correct a parliamentary statement by Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, claiming the new Planning and Infrastructure Bill would not reduce environmental protections.

Wild Justice says – as has CIEEM and others – the Bill would remove environmental protections that exist under current law, contrary to a claim by Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner that the Bill would not reduce the level of protection.

Following other legal opinion that the Bill amounts to a regression of environmental progressions, Wild Justice have also sought legal opinion and found that the Bill is a regression.

In a pre-action letter, Wild Justice has urged Rayner to correct the record or face a potential judicial review challenge.
