Scotland Member Network Event: Monitoring and Evaluating Restoration and Re-wilding Approaches

This CIEEM Scotland Member Network event – Monitoring and Evaluating Restoration and Re-wilding Approaches was hosted by the Scotland Member Network. It was held as a post-event to the Scotland Conference – Reshaping Scotland: Nature Restoration in Action.

We heard from speakers highlighting a variety of monitoring techniques to evaluate restoration and rewilding approaches:

  • Professor Volker Deecke – A sound approach to monitoring biodiversity: The role of soundscape analysis in rewilding.
  • Clare Cowgill – Environmental DNA for monitoring the ecological impacts of terrestrial rewilding.
  • Dr Alex Dittrich – Ant-icipating healthier forests: Translocating wood ants as part of Scottish forest recovery.
  • Dr. Justin Byrne – Explore the cutting-edge integration of remote sensing technologies and AI in ecological research with a focus on Natural Capital and biodiversity.

This event was part of the #NatureRestorationScotland series of events hosted by the Scotland Committee to tie in with the 2024 Scotland conference.
