European Environment Agency Sets Out Data Strategy for Achieving Environment Goals
The European Environment Agency (EEA) and European Environment Information and Observation Network (Eionet) has published a strategy setting out how they will deliver data and knowledge to achieve Europe’s environment and climate ambitions.
The high-level strategy runs until 2030 and seeks to deliver on five strategic objectives across biodiversity and ecosystems, climate change mitigation and adaptation, human health and the environment, circular economy and resource use and sustainability trends.
Under ‘biodiversity and ecosystems’, the EEA and Eionet aim to further understanding of the cumulative impacts of invasive alien species, pollution, climate change and intensive use and over exploitation of natural resources biodiversity and ecosystems as well as strengthen the assessment of the core systemic drivers that impact biodiversity and ecosystems.
