CIEEM Volunteer Elections Launch: Make your Mark!

CIEEM is looking for members to join its amazing community of volunteers as part of their local geographic section Member Network in 2022. There has never been a more important time to connect people in the sector together, and you can play your part!

We are now open for nominations for the 2022 Member Network Elections (until Monday 26th September), and every geographic section has multiple roles available.

What to we need?

During August and September, CIEEM are looking for volunteer to join the committees of its geographic section Member Networks. These groups aim to connect those in the ecology and environmental management sector together to network, share knowledge and experiences, and to encourage and deliver positive steps to support biodiversity and climate action within their region / country. Sounds great so far, right!?

In short, Member Network committee members volunteer their time to provide a platform to share and celebrate regional and national successes, through the medium of field trips, webinars and socials.

They inspire the next generation too, by engaging with aspiring ecologists, academics and environmental managers at higher education institutions and leading careers events.

We are particularly keen to receive nominations for Convenor, Vice Convenor and Secretary, where these roles are available. You can find out more about each of the roles available on our Volunteer Opportunities page.

So, what’s in it for you?

Being an active committee member on your regional / national CIEEM Member Network is widely considered in the sector to be an honorable, influential and important role. There are fantastic opportunities to enhance both your CPD and CV!

The work that geographic section Member Networks do goes a long way towards influencing the ecology and environmental management section within the areas they cover. They bring together representatives from many different organisations, companies and institutions, sharing the overriding objectives of improving conditions for biodiversity and rare species, as well as adjusting / limiting the impacts of the climate crisis!

The opportunities for networking and influencing your own career are fantastic, and you will be helping CIEEM to share good practice and push for positive policy changes in your area but connecting with people directly, which it would otherwise not have the resources to do.

Volunteers are a vital part of CIEEM’s mission, and we want to make sure they have all the skills, knowledge and re sources to complete their roles. CIEEM offers a full induction for all roles, and 1:1 support from members of staff is always on offer if they need it. Don’t hold back, and send in a nomination to join our fantastic geographic section Member Network teams.

Be the spark that helps your local Member Network shine even brighter!

Thank you in advance for any nominations received, and if you have any questions, do not hesitate to get in touch by emailing us at membernetworks@cieem.net.
