CIEEM encourages members to contact MPs over Planning and Infrastructure Bill

We have published our response to the Planning and Infrastructure Bill 2025.

Despite supporting the core principle behind the Bill – identifying environmental challenges early and addressing them proactively through state-led intervention to deliver both critical development and nature recovery – we believe that the Bill is both critically flawed and represents a regression in environmental protections.

Members of Parliament will be debating the Bill at its second reading on Monday 24 March. We encourage all members in England to engage with your local Member of Parliament (MP) ahead of this debate to highlight the flaws in the Bill, and in particular to relate how the Bill will affect you, your organisation and the local environment within your constituency.

In case it is useful, we have also recently published a short advice note on engaging with your MP.
