CIEEM represented on EDP Advisory Group

CIEEM was represented this week at Natural England’s EDP Advisory Group meeting by Ben Kite, current Chair of CIEEM’s Strategic Policy Panel.

The Advisory Group is supporting and advising on the development of Environmental Delivery Plans (EDPs), which form part of the Government’s approach to implementing the Planning and Infrastructure Act.

Current EDPs for nutrient neutrality and great crested newts are under development. A letter of notification from Natural England has been sent to the Defra Secretary of State advising of Natural England’s intention to prepare 23 EDPs in England. This includes the preparation of:

  • 16 EDPs for nutrient pollution from development affecting protected sites; and
  • 7 EDPs for great crested newts (GCN) for development (including infrastructure) in England where GCN are materially present.

CIEEM will continue to engage with these processes and provide updates to members on developments relating to EDPs and the wider implementation of the Planning and Infrastructure Act as more information becomes available.
