Forestry Commission to lose 300 jobs in 2025
Coming on the back of planned job losses in Natural Resources Wales, the Forestry Commission is reported to be losing 300 jobs in early 2025.
The Forestry Commission’s annual report states that around 300 jobs are not funded beyond March 2025.
The Environmental News Directory Service (ENDS) has additionally reported that the jobs have been funded by the Nature for Climate Fund, meaning the jobs are directly related to nature and climate.
Given the lack of skills and capacity in the nature conservation sector and that Defra had its resource funding cut in the Autumn Budget, this is a disappointing direction of travel given Government’s ambitions for nature recovery and climate action.
