BioSense to Research Skills and Capacity in Ireland’s Ecology Sector

We’re thrilled to announce that BioSense has been selected to lead an in-depth investigation into the skills and capacity challenges within Ireland’s ecology sector. With the biodiversity crisis escalating, this research is critical for developing a robust ecological workforce equipped to protect and restore our natural environments.

BioSense shared their excitement:

BioSense is delighted to have been awarded this research contract to conduct an in-depth study on the skills and capacity of Ireland’s ecology sector. With the biodiversity crisis intensifying, the demand for skilled ecologists who can assess, protect, and restore natural environments has never been greater. Through this project, we aim to identify key skills gaps, explore the challenges facing those entering and progressing in the sector, and offer recommendations to strengthen capacity. Our research will help inform policies and strategies to build a robust ecological workforce, supporting efforts to protect biodiversity and promote sustainable development.

Sally Haynes, CEO of CIEEM, expressed her support for the project:

We are delighted to be able to launch this important research project, thanks to the generous support of sponsors and funders. The evidence gathered will enable us, together with stakeholders, to create a route map for the change necessary to address the challenges facing the ecology sector in Ireland.

We look forward to the insights that this project will bring and the positive steps it will inspire for Ireland’s ecology sector. Stay tuned for updates!
