We Have a New UK Government

Labour won a significant majority in last night’s general election and today the new Cabinet will be announced, with further ministers expected to be announced next week.

There are some returning MPs that we already have relationships with but also many new faces in Parliament to start conversations with.

From an environmental perspective, alongside the large number of new Labour MPs there are also new faces from the Greens and Liberal Democrats who with their forward thinking manifestos on the environment we look forward to working with. And of course we will engage with the Conservatives who will form the official opposition.

At CIEEM we’re looking forward to a new chapter in UK politics and engaging with parliamentarians across the political parties. The next five years are critical in tackling the triple, interlinked crises of nature loss, climate change and inequality.
