Senior Ecologist (Focus Environmental Consultants)

Focus Environmental Consultants’ is offering an exciting opportunity within its multi-award-winning, environmental consultancy.

The role will suit an experienced Ecologist/ existing Senior Ecologist, who will be involved in a wide range of exciting projects across England and Wales. The role will frequently encompass preparation and completion of PEAs, EcIAs, protected species surveys and license applications, BNG assessments, HRA (stages 1 and 2) and HMMPs. You will play a crucial role in helping co-ordinate ecological services and supporting the ecology team. The ability to organise and manage your own workload is essential.

The role will be based at our dog-friendly office on the outskirts of Worcester. Focus Environmental Consultants is proud to be a CIEEM Registered Practice and winner of CIEEM’s ‘Small Consultancy of the Year–2023’.

Salary & Benefits: We offer a fantastic working environment with a strong remuneration package. Salary band is £33,000-£40,000. Benefits include enhanced pension scheme, >30hours training per year, Healthcare Scheme, paid volunteer days, payment of professional membership/license fees, TOIL policy, hybrid working, restricted nocturnal surveys (1 per week), and 33 days annual leave (full-time, inc. bank holidays), with annual leave increasing with service.  Full and part-time contracts are available.

Specification:

Experience:

  • Established professional Ecologist, with at least 4 years consultancy experience.
  • Established area(s) of specialism combined with excellent all-round field skills.
  • Experienced in BNG Assessments with good botanical skills.
  • Proficiency with protected species work, including obtaining/ inputting into EPS Mitigation licenses (for bats or gcn) and personal survey licenses.
  • Full working knowledge of relevant wildlife legislation and policy, the planning process, and Appropriate Assessment.
  • CIEEM membership.
