An opportunity has arisen to lead on the Port of London Authority’s environmental response to pollution and litter in the tidal Thames measures and initiatives throughout its estate and in its operations.
The post holder will lead on the relevant goals, initiatives and improvements set out in the Thames Vision relating to water quality, including litter. They will advise on technical aspects and appropriateness of assessments under relevant legislation and conventions to the impacts of dredging work on the tidal Thames and the PLA’s own activities and operations.
The ideal candidate will
- Be educated to degree level with a postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline such as Water Quality or Environmental Sciences
- Hold membership of a relevant institution recognised by the Society of Environment.
- Have at least three years experience in evaluating technical and scientific on water and sediment quality in consenting applications
- Demonstrable skills in sampling and monitoring techniques in the fields of water and sediment quality, data management and familiarity with GIS tools. Thorough understanding of statistical analysis, data management and modelling of large and complex environmental data sets.
