Senior Hydrogeologist (Severn Trent)

Want to do the best work of your life? Playing your part in making a big difference to the environment and communities we serve. Our people make Severn Trent a truly exciting and inclusive place to work – a place where you can be yourself and let your skills shine.

Our purpose is taking care of life’s essentials, but we’re also big on making a difference, not just because we should but because we care.

With that in mind we’re looking for a Senior Hydrogeologist to help get River Positive, fit for the future and more sustainable as an organisation long term.

Do you come from a hydrogeologist or an environmental regulator background and have experience of water resources management? Are you a good communicator with great influencing skills, and the ability to communicate simple or complex messages as required to promote practical solutions? Are you passionate about making sure we get the best out of our groundwater sources for generations to come?

If so, then read on

As a Senior Hydrogeologist at Severn Trent, you’ll sit within the Sustainable Abstraction Team and work as part of a team of multidisciplinary technical experts who provide specialist advice to the business and stakeholders.  During AMP7 and beyond we will be undertaking a complex environmental programme, Water Industry National Environmental Programme (WINEP) which encompasses several workstreams, this is where you come into it.

A key element within this role is around building relationships with stakeholders, consultant management and programme management as well. As the role holder, you will need to be great at building relationships with internal and external parties, such as regulators for example. There is also an ask for you to be experienced in managing consultants to ensure they deliver the right work and on time and should be experienced in programme and project management.

Using this experience, plus your strong water resources expertise and experience you’ll be able to successfully support and influence activities that will have a wider impact on your, and your teams, WFD (Water Framework Directive) obligations and our WINEP work programme.

The WINEP programme has several deliverables which are regulatory requirements, have and impact our Environmental Performance Assessment (EPA) rating. One example of something for you to get stuck into and lead is the delivery of greater environmental improvements by considering changes to water abstractions, beyond those already identified in water company plans. This is to help us deliver a sustainable abstraction regime across all sectors for decades to come.
