Senior Ecologist (Lizard Landscape Design and Ecology)

Following the continued success and growth of the company, Lizard Landscape Design and Ecology are seeking an enthusiastic Senior Ecologist to join our friendly environmental team! We are an established environmental consultancy based on the Sussex coast in Worthing (nr. Brighton) working on a diverse portfolio of projects in a range of sectors. Within our multi-disciplinary team the work is varied, with great opportunities for collaboration with landscape architects, landscape planners, and arboricultural surveyors.

The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of our work including liaising with clients, writing and reviewing a range of technical reports, preparing licence applications and mitigation strategies, as well as mentoring junior members of staff to allow them to progress and thrive. Due to our growing team, there will be significant opportunities for career progression for the right candidate.

Ideally, you will meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of 4 – 5 years’ experience within a consultancy setting;
  • Full CIEEM membership (or eligibility for);
  • Holder of at least one Natural England protected species licence, ideally including bats, and / or GCN / Dormouse;
  • Experience in completing a range of surveys and reports including Preliminary Ecological Appraisal, Bat Roost Assessments, Ecologist Impact Assessment and Biodiversity Net Gain calculations and condition assessments;
  • Good UK botany skills, with a sound knowledge of UKHabs;
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car;
  • Desirable to have experience of being named ecologist on EPS Mitigation Licences, but not essential.
