Ground Control’s Ecology and Environmental department has a fantastic opportunity for a self-motivated and commercially minded Environmental Manager to join their expanding team in this new role.
This is a great role for a Biodiversity specialist who wants to expand their skills and move over to a forward thinking, environmentally focused business who have recently won the Pro Landscaper business award for the most Sustainable Company of 2021.
This role would act as a central point of contact for biodiversity opportunities and enquiries. It would liaise with the different parts of the business in order to deliver the work, actively undertaking surveys, biodiversity metrics and reporting, promoting biodiversity work across the business. It would also capitalise on the commercial opportunities which are arising due to developments within the industry including biodiversity net gain, natural capital assessments, ecological offsetting and ecosystem services

Who are we looking for?
We would welcome applications from existing Biodiversity experts with relevant practical experience within the industry either working for a contractor or local authority.
Ideally you will be a Full Member or Chartered Status of CIEEM and be experienced in using net gain metrics, including Defra 2.0 and 3.0, Warwickshire metric and Small Sites metric. Experience with Natural Capital Assessment tool is also highly desirable.
You’ll have a broad understanding of ecology legislation and policy and be familiar with regional Biodiversity Action Plans and Section 41/42. You will also have worked on biodiversity enhancement such as habitat creation and sensitive management
In addition you will;
Be able to work under own initiative and be able to prioritize workloads
Attention to detail, a high level of accuracy and plenty of initiative
Will have detailed knowledge of relevant aspects of UK and EU environmental legislation and confidence when advising clients and contracting teams on wildlife issues
Have excellent communication skills to allow effective liaison with planners, developers, professional advisors, contractors, landowners, the general public and other
Be personable, a team player and experience with client interface
Be in possession of a full UK driving license
