We are currently seeking ecologists at a range of levels to join our teams across Yorkshire and the South-East.
Our award-winning teams of ecologists work on a diverse range of projects including habitat creation/enhancement design, river restoration, flood risk management scheme appraisal and implementation, designated site assessment, Biodiversity Net Gain assessment, Ecological Impact Assessment, and protected species and habitat surveys.
As specialists in wetland and riverine environments, we regularly input to multi-disciplinary projects to deliver projects that benefit biodiversity through promotion of nature-based solutions.

Your Role
We are looking for highly motivated, organised and conscientious individuals, who demonstrate a passion and enthusiasm for ecology.
As an ecologist you will:
- Undertake ecology related fieldwork at sites throughout the UK.
- Carry out data searches, field surveys, analysis and evaluation of results, GIS mapping and reporting.
- Work with other ecologists and multidisciplinary teams, contributing to the success of projects.
- With support, manage projects, ensuring adherence to quality standards, programmes and budgets
In addition, for more senior roles, you will be expected to:
- Provide technical expertise and guidance and technical review of other’s work
- Oversee the development and implementation of ecological survey programmes, impact assessments and mitigation strategies
- Be involved with staff mentoring, professional development and performance feedback
- Undertake business development, including tender preparation, networking and pursuing new opportunities and clients
Qualifications
A BSc and/or MSc degree in Ecology or closely related subject
CIEEM membership
Full UK driving licence
Essential attributes for the role
- Knowledge and understanding of wildlife and conservation legislation.
- Good ecological field skills covering a range of protected species and habitats.
- Able to produce clear and concise reports and experience of Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, BNG reports, Protected Species reports and Ecological Impact Assessments.
- Be willing to travel (the role will require a significant amount of site work) and able to stay away from home.
In addition, for more senior roles:
- Project management and business development experience, including preparation of quotations and tenders.
- Experience in authoring concise, high quality reports including PEAs, EcIAs, HRAs.
- Proficient in BNG assessments, including UKHab surveys, condition assessments, metrics and reporting.
- Experience of designing, implementing and managing ecological mitigation schemes, including Protected Species licensing.
- Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams.
Desirable attributes
- Specialist experience in aquatic, estuarine and/or coastal ecology
- River Condition Assessment accredited
- Protected species survey licences (bats and water vole highly desirable)
- Ecological clerk of works
- GIS experience
