Grade: H (starting salary £74,836)

Location: Flexible

Vacancy type: Permanent, Full-time (37 hours)

This is an exciting time to join Scottish Natural Heritage. In recent years we have made changes to enhance our relevance, and now we are set to embark on the next phase of our evolution. Our name is changing to NatureScot to underline that nature is at the heart of everything we do. We are also considering our future business model, and you could play a pivotal role in shaping our  future, which could mean adjustments to your own director role, and leading the implementation of change across your own directorate, as well as being an advocate for transformation across the organisation as a whole, and externally.

As director and member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will be expected to make a significant impact on long-term direction, strategy and objectives of the organisation by leading, directing and managing the workforce across major activities of strategic importance to the organisation whilst influencing external stakeholders.

The post also carries the title of Chief Scientist. These functions are delegated on a day to day basis but you will be expected to provide oversight to science leadership in the organisation.
