Development Officer (Green Action Trust)

Do you want to address climate change, biodiversity loss, and poor-quality environments across Scotland? Are you interested in working with a charity dedicated to making a difference to the environment and people’s lives? We are looking for Development Officers to work in partnership with stakeholders to identify, develop and deliver environmental regeneration projects across Scotland. Could this be you?

The Green Action Trust is one of Scotland’s leading environmental charities. We have been regenerating Central Scotland by undertaking landscape scale projects; creating and improving greenspaces, planting and managing woodlands, greening vacant and derelict land, creating and maintaining paths and enhancing a range of habitats for over 40 years. We are specifically responsible for coordinating the delivery of the Central Scotland Green Network. We are passionate about the positive environmental and social change we deliver in Scotland and are seeking candidates who possess similar ambition to help us create this change.

The Development Officer role is diverse and interesting, involving working in partnership with other organisations; developing new projects, partnerships and networks; overseeing a programme of projects from concept often through to construction; and working as part of a close-knit team. Applications are sought from individuals with experience and knowledge of, as well as enthusiasm for making a real difference to the environment of Scotland. We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with knowledge of how positive land use change can help tackle climate change and biodiversity loss and who have a positive, solution orientated and flexible attitude to their work.

Applicants will also benefit from demonstrating a track record of developing programmes and projects by working collaboratively with others, excellent project management skills, a good working knowledge of the current funding available for environmental project work in Scotland and experience in securing and managing significant funding packages, and experience of financial planning and budgeting.

This is a great opportunity for a highly motivated individual to put their own mark on shaping our future.  Your commitment will help us make positive environmental change.  In return we offer a flexible, supportive working environment with training opportunities to aid your own personal development.

All positions advertised are offered on a permanent, full-time basis (although part-time and flexible working arrangements will be considered) and will involve hybrid working. Travel within Scotland will be required, therefore a clean driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
