Bat Ecologist (Burton Reid Associates)

We are an Ecological and Landscape consultancy and our work is our passion.

We have a mission: to work with people who share our values and who want to leave a legacy for future generations, those who really believe that we should leave the world in a better state than we found it. If this sounds like you, then Burton Reid is looking for a full time Bat Ecologist to join our growing team.

You will be highly motivated and keen to take on new challenges and play a key role in working with our small but dynamic team. The role will focus primarily on delivery of our private homeowner bat projects and will give the successful candidate the opportunity to work on these projects from inception to delivery. You will be an excellent communicator and a confident decision maker and have an excellent working knowledge of current legislation and planning policy. You will be a builder of great relationships, working seamlessly with clients, contractors and statutory agencies.

We are looking for a Bat Ecologist with the following:

  • Full CIEEM membership;
  • Class 2 bat licence;
  • Named Ecologist on European Protected Species Licences;
  • Excellent report writing;
  • Excellent people skills;
  • Ability to think creatively and to find the best results for people and bats;
  • Have an excellent working knowledge of UK legislation and planning policy.

You will join a friendly team which believes strongly in working together to deliver our core values. We value people and the contribution they can make, and who share our enthusiasm and ethos to make a difference. Our main office is based in south Dartmoor and together with our Holt office we have a particularly strong presence in the south west although work further afield may be a requirement of this role.

We will offer flexible working arrangements to work from both the office and home.

We are keen to hear from you if you are interested in finding out more and want to join us.

Please send us:

  • Your CV including a summary about yourself, your background and why you would like to join us along with your aspirations.
  • Project examples related to key bat projects, plus ideally, examples of any written reports or extracts. (Less than10MB per item please).
