This is a joint project between the Training, Education and Careers Development Committee (TECDC) and the Professional Standards Committee (PSC). Members of both committees are keen to find ways for CIEEM to support people coming into the profession and also to instil good practice standards and a sense of professional responsibilities at an early stage in their career.
What is core training?
The intention is to develop a training ‘bundle’ of courses for early career practitioners (i.e. Qualifying members) which includes some mandatory courses covering topics such as professional ethics, communication skills, protected species and habitats, ecological assessment and reporting together with further optional courses from the wider CIEEM programme. It is envisaged that the ‘bundle’ will be 10-12 days training in total over a 12-24 month period.
Alongside the training programme will be optional assessment options that can lead to a Certificate of Achievement and an evidence base for submission of a future upgrading of membership to Associate level.
